Polio Eradication and Rotary

>

The idea behind polio eradication is simple. If every last case of polio in the world can be treated and cured, and those likely to catch it are vaccinated, then polio will cease to exist. There will be no way to catch it, and this scourge will have been eliminated from the Earth. That idea was presented by Rotary International to the World Health Assembly starting in 1985, and resulted in the Global Polio Eradication initiative in 1988.

Since then Rotary International and rotarians world wide have been working toward this goal. By the time it's finished, Rotary's financial contribution will reach nearly $1.2 billion.

We're this close to ending Polio.
